WHAT’S ON AT HOTA: JANUARY

After a jam-packed start to summer with their HOME series, HOTA – Home of the Arts – is back this January with a stellar line-up of shows and performances for the remainder of the season.

M10 continues to work closely with the marketing and promotions team at HOTA to deliver publicity campaigns to build awareness and draw guests to the exciting and diverse events at the Gold Coast’s arts and culture hub.

Kicking off the sensational line-up on January 10-11 is acclaimed clown duo from New York City, Acrobuffos, with Air Play.  Husband and wife, Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone, have collaborated with renowned air sculptor, Daniel Wurtzel, to create an incredibly unique performance that incorporates simple materials, movement and technology, with elements of comedy, sculpture, circus and theatre. Set to bring the stage to life, this impressive performance has wowed audiences all over the world and is one not to be missed.

The phenomenal Air Play performance forms part HOTA’s Kids Take Over school holiday program, themed ‘Save the World’. Running from January 14 to 18, the HOTA parklands will be taken over by a mega Boxwars battle, amazing performances, upbeat dance parties, creative cutting-edge technology workshops and so much more.

Truly embracing the ‘Save the World’ theme, is Laser Beak Man, a high energy puppet show packed with humour and visual puns from artist Tim Sharp. Playing at HOTA from January 16 to 18, audiences will learn all about the adventures of a local hero who works hard to keep his city perfect and safe from evil in a performance that explodes with colour and energy.

Then, in their first-ever season on the Gold Coast, YUMMY DELUXE arrives at HOTA. This multi-award-winning Melbourne cabaret production house are set to take audiences on the ride of their lives in the feature-length spectacle that includes incredible choreography, outrageous fashion and humorous performances by the stellar and widely acclaimed line-up of drag performance artists.
